Twine Vases are a serie vases in continuation of my project Conjunction | 'the chemical marriage'. These vases are also made of porcelain and
earthenware, which have a difference in shrinkage, therefore a 'natural' relief is created in the surface. Each vase has it's own unique porcelain relief.

An impression of my research from one of my new projects. This research is a continuation
of the project Conjunction | the chemical marriage.
Conjunction, 'the chemical marriage', whereby opposite materials are reunited.
A phase in alchemy to create the philosopher's stone which would be capable of turning lead into gold.
Porcelain and earthenware are two opposing materials due to their different characteristics. This research into a the way for the two materials to cooperate is my quest for gold. It has resulted in a research of plates that go into the kiln flat, but come out bent into a specific shape: deformation became function.
Successful conjunctions of the materials opens opportunities in a search for a new technique to make ceramic products.
A table set with a tabletop of solid plaster. Each tabletop is made in one piece, in a mould.
Dimensions: 240 x 35 x 130/115 cm
A research of the capability of porcelain. Experiments with different kind of materials combined with porcelain.
This research has resulted in a series photo's which are combined together. In each photo there are three picture's of one experiment in chronicle order: a picture before 960°C, a picture after 960°C and a picture after 1260°C.
Dimensions: ø 4 cm x 13 cm.
Product design is my field, but the definition of product is equally broad as the definition
of art. Newly found knowledge, in every form, is the main source of my inspiration. From
characteristics of a material up to looking at things from different ways. I find it exciting
to research the possibilities of this new knowledge, I want to understand it and when possible
stretch it's limits.
